Since then, I've started adding compost (unfortunately mine was salty) and worms and bringing the mixes closer to coot's.
When I decided the Nectar nutes I was using were too much work, I experimented with making 'soil' from coco + dry amendments plus biochar because that seemed to offer the best of both worlds, giving the plant access nutes and water (via blumat or earthbox) as needed. I always buffer it with calmag to remove the K and Na. I cannot overstate my concern with getting watering and aeration right, and I feel coco really helps the grower in that aspect. I started out growing with organic liquid nutes, so I appreciated that coco allowed for frequent feeding b/c it protects from over watering.
I'll tell you why I got into coco and you can see if I might be thinking about it incorrectly in comparison to peat.
